Passion and dedication make a great artist – Brenda Garth-Davis

This local artist has been painting since she was a child and she loves it.

Brenda Garth-Davis epitomises passion for art.

The Randburg Art Society member only uses watercolours in her work.

While she does not bring as many pieces to show as some others at the society, behind the scenes she is one of the busiest and most dedicated artists.

“I have been painting since I was a kid,” she told Randburg Sun.

“My mom could not keep up with all the paper I went through. Work put everything on hold but now I am retired I can paint again. I love being back.”

Not surprisingly, Garth-Davis believes a great artist must have a combination of passion and dedication.

“It takes a lot of practice, you can’t just immediately become good. There is something special about painting and I love it. I give it as much time as I can.”

The society has been meeting at Delta Cafe & Don Quixote, since the Blairgowrie Recreation Centre was closed for maintenance in June last year.

The group gathers every Monday morning to share ideas and work on art with each other.
