Local artist wants to inspire

Henry Jensen tries to understand how any given object can inspire a person, and then he paints it.

Randburg Art Society has many friendly faces, and Henry Jensen is no exception.

In fact, he is one of the first to greet people as they enter the cafe-turned-art-studio every Monday morning, at Delta Cafe & Don Quixote.

“I have been doing art since 1991. I like to do drawings and oil painting, but I will do anything that comes,” he told Randburg Sun with a beaming smile.

“I like to paint something that inspires the person who looks at it. I don’t often do wildlife but if it inspires people, I will paint it.”

Jensen’s portraits – both paintings and sketches – are a point of pride for the man.

According to him, a good artist can bring out something in an object that inspires people.

This means acknowledging the beauty or significance of something and then translating it to paper without it losing its characteristics that inspire.
