Local presenter ‘King Nee’ attains another TV show

Local TV presenter scores another slot to present a musical show on Soweto TV.

Adeniyi Lamal, prominently known as ‘King Nee’ in the entertainment fraternity, scored another slot on Soweto TV, this time producing and presenting City Muzik Francophone.

The entertainer from Ferndale hosts an inspirational show titled Gold which started broadcasting on DSTV channel 251 last year. The show, Gold, was created to motivate, encourage, and inspire people to live their life positively. It also inspires people to achieve their dreams and find purpose in life.

With his latest 30-minute show which debut on the same channel on April 16 and shows every Saturday at 18:30, King Nee is adamant that it will unite Africans musically and culturally.

King Nee is an artist, MC, actor and presenter. He started in the entertainment industry way back in 1985 in Lomé, the capital city of Togo, his native country. “To produce and present another show on the same channel is an amazing grace. It’s surreal. I might as well say that I am breaking a crown that many presenters have never done, you know like coming to TV with two shows at the same time,” he said.

He thanked the channel for giving him the opportunity. He believes his show teaches audiences lots of lessons about music on the continent.

“We just want Africans to be able to tell their own stories. You don’t have to be in the Congo to know the kind of language they speak in that country, you don’t have to be in Benin to know that it is in West Africa,” he said.

He said the latest show will help steer his television career to another level, which he started pursuing about three years ago. “I might be in my own space in Randburg thinking that people are not noticing but people are, I know it will just be a call, an email or someone referring me to other people to say ‘this guy knows how to present. He is doing a wonderful job’ and that’s what I want to do,” he said.

The show will serve as a bridge that links both English-speaking countries to French-speaking countries in Africa. He concluded that the show promotes and showcases artists from French-speaking countries in Africa and in the diaspora.
