Inspirational show host shares his entertainment journey

FERNDALE – The journey of the host of the Gold show, Adeniyi Lawal, prominently known as 'King Nee' in the entertainment industry, spans over three decades.

Adeniyi Lawal (48), prominently known as ‘King Nee’ hosts an inspirational show, Gold, which broadcasts on Soweto TV on channel 251.

The show was created to motivate, encourage, and inspire people to live their life positively. It also inspires people to achieve their dreams and find purpose in life.

This actor, artist, MC and presenter started in the entertainment industry way back in 1985 in Lomé, the capital city of Togo, his home country. Started as a singer in 2001, Lawal entered the television industry when he pitched a show called Wishes on TV2 in Togo, and he has not looked backed since.

The Ferndale resident believes that arriving in South Africa about eight years ago has been a blessing in all aspects of his life. “The first gig was a pan-African TV series called The Dragon, followed by Lincoln’s Clan and Closets, and I hosted a couple of events and finally discovered my purpose by writing Gold,” he said.

At the time when he featured in those shows, Lawal was not fully in the entertainment space. He had to cut hair so that he could support his daughter back from home and sustain his life. “I quit the salon to focus on my productions about two years ago because I believe I am made to inspire and change the world to be a better place.”
