Dainfern community donates shoes

DAINFERN – Members of the Dainfern College community were once again encouraged to donate shoes set to be handed over to the community partner schools in Diepsloot and Cosmo City.

Dainfern College and its community continued their streak in community involvement and collected more than 100 pairs of shoes for children in Diepsloot and Cosmo City schools.

In September last year, the school’s community collected 975 pairs of shoes of all types to celebrate Heritage Day. This year, the focus turned to donating school shoes. The community was encouraged to clean out their cupboards and donate any gently worn school shoes learners may have outgrown or not worn due to last year’s remote learning phase. A total of 80 pairs of school shoes were collected and an additional 50 pairs of casual shoes were also collected.

Dainfern College’s digital media and communication spokesperson, Ashley van Aswegen, said the school has a heavy emphasis on outreach and service which has a number of learners getting involved in the various projects throughout the year. “The school shoes will be donated to students at Dainfern College’s community partner schools in Diepsloot and Cosmo City and will make many children more comfortable each day.

“Dainfern College is grateful to the community for their wholehearted support of this outreach initiative.”
