Why not stream these while you’re stuck inside

JOBURG – While many people are choosing to self-isolate, we've highlighted some shows and movies you can watch at home.


With many people staying at home in self-isolation to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, we’ve rounded up a list of some new movies and series to keep you entertained.

Netflix:

• The third season of the Emmy Award-winning show Ozark will premiere on your TV screen on 27 March. Created by Bill Dubuque this drama series follows Marty Byrde who relocates to the suburbs with his family after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong. The show stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde and co-stars Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner.

• An unemployed advertising executive begins stalking the new tenants of his former home and his motives toward the family turn sinister in The Occupant. The Spanish language thriller will premiere on 25 March, stars Javier Gutiérrez and Mario Casas and is written and directed by David and Àlex Pastor.

Amazon Prime:

• A diverse band of Nazi Hunters living in 1977 New York City discover that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among them and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. In Hunters, this team sets out to bring the Nazis to justice. The show stars Logan Lerman, Jonah Heidelbaum and Al Pacino.

• A vengeful ex-con goes on a 24-hour killing spree, never saying a word in 24 Hours in London. The discredited detective investigating the case is convinced there is more to it than the evidence suggests. Marc Bannerman, Fiona Skinner and Kris Johnson lead the ensemble cast.

Showmax:

• The epic tale of Elton John’s life is detailed in Rocketman, which has recently been released on Showmax. The film follows John in his early days in England as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his musical partnership with Bernie Taupin. The film stars Taron Egerton as Elton John as well as Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard.

• The remake of Stephan King’s novel Pet Sematary is now on Showmax. Dr Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, move to rural Maine with their two young children. When their daughter Ellie discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home, Louis is quick to put her at ease. But these woods belong to something else, something that brings things back from the dead. The film stars Jason Clark, John Lithgow, Amy Seimetz and Jeté Laurence.
