Cupcakes of HOPE bakes a big difference.
RANDBURG – Cupcakes of hope celebrates a year of volunteer-bae charitable work in honour of their cupcake heroes turned angels
Cupcakes of HOPE was established by Sandy Cipriano as an organisation that has assisted the families of children who suffer from life-threatening diseases and have not been able to afford the medical fees to support their treatment. This is where the organisation has stepped in, and raised money through the sale of cupcakes. Cupcakes of HOPE has volunteers (or cupcake angels) all over South Africa.
“We host several awareness and fundraising events throughout the year with our main fundraiser being National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer. This year we hosted it at 88 malls across South Africa and raised over R2million on the day. These funds enable us to assist about 70 children every month. In October we assisted more than 85 patients by paying for their medical and other day-to-day expenses like food and transport,” said Cipriano.

The highlight of the organisation’s year was the way community members were able to consistently come together for a good cause. There are cupcake angels aged from three to 90-years-old and everyone is welcome to donate their time or money to “Bake a difference”.
“2019 saw a few little cancer warriors gain their angel wings,” said Cipriano. “This is always so sad to see but in our hearts we are so grateful that we at Cupcakes of HOPE could help make a difference in their lives. For some of our patients we helped make birthday wishes come true, we helped create special family memories and we also helped them receive treatment to help make them comfortable and pain free as long as possible.”
Their next fundraiser will be on 15 February on International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day.
