Festive season wishes from the Honeydew police

HONEYDEW – 'I would like to take this opportunity to wish all community members a safe, joyous and peaceful festive season' – Brigadier Anesh Maharaj.

Station Commander of the Honeydew Police Station Brigadier Anesh Maharaj writes:

On behalf of the station management and personnel of the SAPS in Honeydew, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all community members a safe, joyous and peaceful festive season.

The community can rest assured that the police and other law enforcement partners will be out in full force to ensure that everyone feels safe around Honeydew policing precinct.

We have already commenced with our festive season operations and have recorded several successes this far, which include, house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms, dealing in drugs, dealing in dagga, assaults, undocumented persons, illegal shebeens raids, and other serious crimes.

Our community has suffered great losses of their beloved friends and family members as well as property, owing to crimes, such as murder, house robbery, business robbery, hijacking, burglaries, accidents, motor vehicle theft and fraud – your pain is our pain.

We continue to emphasise the importance of community residents partnering with the police in the fight against crime. Together we can do better with your support and cooperation.

Ongoing support and joint operations with our CPFs, substructures, the business community, neighbourhood watches, security companies and other government departments have resulted in a positive impact – we appreciate you all.

We urge the community to protect the children, elderly and people living with disabilities throughout this excitement-fuelled season, let us still take full responsibility of our surroundings.

Let’s drink responsibly and avoid drinking from strange places. Drinking and driving is a crime and the police will act accordingly.

Let us not leave our valuables lying around in the car, close windows, do not accept help from strangers at ATMs.

Let us all be vigilant at all times.

The Firearm Amnesty process has officially opened for all to surrender illegal/unwanted firearms, ammunition and/or firearm parts from 1 December to 31 May 2020. Our firearm office will be working from Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm weekly.

Please note that our contact number available 24 hours at the station is 011 801 8614 or 011 801 8615.

Relief commander – 082 337 0925.

I wish our whole community a blessed and safe festive season.
