What’s on Randburg Sun’s Christmas menu

JOBURG – In addition to the festivities of the season, we also look forward to getting our bellies filled with delicious home-cooked meals during Christmas dinner.

Take a tour of the world’s cuisines this with Randburg Sun this festive season.

The festive season is famously known for bringing people together to share jolly spirits, cheerful conversations and memories that will be treasured for a long time.

In addition to the festivities of the season, we also look forward to getting our bellies filled with delicious home-cooked meals during Christmas dinner while surrounded by our loved ones.

The actual meal consumed on Christmas day changes in different parts of the world with regional cuisines and local traditions. In South Africa, the meal is considered to share some links with the English Christmas dinner which involves roasted meats and puddings of some sort.

The Gourmet Salt ‘n Pepper Grill, a recently established restaurant, gives foodies the opportunity to experience a new take on traditional Eastern food with their customised menu that is made with every palate in mind. The restaurant recently took Randburg Sun on a culinary tour of cuisines from around the world – a perfect idea for the ultimate Christmas dinner.

Coming from an Italian background and with over three decades of experience in the culinary world, Chef Robert has travelled the country, studied winemaking and dabbled in everything possible in the culinary scene. The chef crafted and curated a splendid menu which fused cuisines of the world in order to make the day of indulgence a celebration of tastes of flavours.

“What we’ve done is mix a lot of the Pakistani cuisine with the Italian Mediterranean cuisine which gives a wide variety of tastes and flavours of two different parts of the world but very similar in cooking – freshness and simple cooking with lots of flavours,” Robert said.

Chef Robert added that fresh herbs are the main catalyst in bringing together cuisine from different parts of the world into one cohesive dish. “There are so many different flavours and so many different tastes that one can taste to make it a lovely celebration.”

Bringing a South African spin into the mix, Chef Robert said South Africans are coming out and tasting different cuisines and learning about different cuisines in addition to staying true to local cuisine – making them feel at home wherever they are.

Chef Robert concluded that he loves roast turkey, potato salad and tiramisu – the traditional Christmas which brings comfort. “If you’re with good people, enjoying it and the dish is right, then everything is alright.”
