Ironman 4×4 SA Hilux Day

In 1988 JSW Parts, originally established in 1958 as a Melbourne based suspension parts manufacturer, launched the Ironman 4×4 brand of springs and suspension parts in response to the increasing popularity of 4×4 vehicles.

Recognizing that standard suspension systems alone were not designed to cope with additional loads of bull bars, winches, and extra fuel tanks.

Many fleets and military organisations throughout the world have acknowledged the quality in design and manufacturing of Ironman 4×4 products. Together with these serious solutions, Ironman 4×4 products are also chosen the world over by off-road competition teams and drivers and have successfully been utilized in the Dakar Rally.

South Africans love the outdoors and the 4×4 culture has always been one that is held in high regard here. Companies like Ironman 4×4 prides itself on offering off-road enthusiasts the products that they need to create lasting memories on their adventures. To acknowledge the support from their customers, Ironman 4×4 in Alberton recently hosted a Hilux day where owners these bakkies came to show off their cars and their 4×4 accessories.

A variety of Hilux bakkies attended the day, some clean, others dirty, some were old and some new. Some of the vehicles are used daily whereas others are specially modified for off-road competitions and overland adventures. The event had a competition in which judges from SA4x4 as well as Halfway Toyota judged the condition of the vehicles.

Judging was split into three categories; daily use, overland and competition. Daily use judging focused on the overall condition and neatness whereas, in the overland category, recovery items, tools, extra batteries, water, bumpers and upgraded suspension were the points of interest. In the competition category, judges looked for protective elements such as roll cages and underbody protection. The best Hilux of the day walked away with a 12V Monster Winch worth R16 500. The second prize came in the form of a 74L IceCube Fridge while third prize was a set of new Ironman 4×4 LED Spotlights.

A well-received visitor to the event was the 2019 Braai Master, The Braai Mafia, himself who supplied hungry event-goers with mouth-watering pulled pork buns.
