PRAEGVILLE – Celestial Knights have high hopes for their third season in the Lenasia Premier League.

The outfit based at Randburg Cricket Club held a launch for the season at Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on 19 February. There, they told media about their hopes for the upcoming season.

“We hope our U14s can win the league and our U12s and U16s have a better showing [after not reaching the playoffs last season],” said Jody Martins, the mental coach and co-owner of the club.

“Our U21s have not reached the finals yet so we want to get there, and we want our opens to win.”

Jaco Pretorius, owner of Ensimini, and Matthew Arnold, player and co-owner of Celestial Knights talk at the season launch.

Martins, who was given the nickname Yoda in the dressing room, added that last season the U14s and U21s finished third in their divisions. The club’s open team was their only side to win the league, which they did two years ago.

Player and co-owner, Matthew Arnold said the club had loads of money to spend in the auction and will purchase top-quality players and renew contracts with its best players.

Stuart Hockly, owner and managing director at Corporate Connections, Jody Martins, mental coach and co-owner of Celestial Knights, Jaco Pretorius, owner of Ensimini, and Matthew Arnold, player and co-owner of Celestial Knights.

“Our business philosophy is to let guys play their game within what we do at the Knights,” he said. “It’s important to have consistency in the squad that plays week in and week out. Continuity is what made us champions in our first year so we need to do that again.”

The club’s main sponsors are Corporate Connections and Ensimini. Stuart Hockly and Jaco Pretorius, owners of the two companies respectively, were also at the launch to discuss their support for the club.
