It’s back, and we are excited! It was such a huge success last year that the organisers of The Pinotage and Biltong Festival are excited to be back, once again at the picturesque Leriba Hotel in Centurion.
This year, 18 of the countries top Pinotage producers will be in attendance and the dates to diarise are 13 and 14 October.
Basically, one wine from each winery is paired with a specific biltong flavour, and you work your way around with a little card, tasting and munching biltong. It’s a good way to spend a weekend day…
The wineries are: Bellevue Wine Estate, Beyerskloof, De Krans, Ernst Gouws & Co, Flagstone Wines, Grande Provence, Hill & Dale, Jakkalsvlei, Koelenhof, Mellasat Vineyards, Mount Vernon, Neethlingshof, Perdeberg Cellar, Simonsvlei Winery, Taillard Wines, Van Loveren Family Vineyards Whalehaven and Wellington Wines.
The festival provides visitors with a Pinotage & Biltong Pairing Card & Tasting Map which takes participants on a fun ā€œfestival routeā€ to discover new Pinotage styles paired with curated biltong and droĆ« wors flavours, courtesy of Pretoria-based Billa B & Co Biltong Deli.
Festival visitors are encouraged to dress in purple and white and Leriba Hotel will offer eats at the festival venue as well as in their restaurants on site.
Tickets range from R 250 pp online, and R 300 at the gate, provided there are tickets still available. Booking online prior to the event is encouraged due to event popularity.
Your ticket price includes a large branded crystal wine glass, free tastings of around 30 wines plus 18 wine and biltong pairings.
Kids under 18s enter free, and Laser Adventures will be on hand to offer optional entertainment for a small fee. NO alcohol will be served to under 18ā€™s, and the organisers support responsible drinking and driving and suggest that festival goers make use of the Gautrain, other public transport or Uber.
