Behind the wheel of a Maserati

“When you see a Maserati driving past you and you look at the people in the car and think to yourself, their lives are better than mine – they are. They’re doing better than you and they’re happier than you are,” said South African comedian and actor, Jason Goliath.

A thrilled Goliath bragged about the Italian supercar following his behind-the-wheel driving experience. Goliath, a Fairland businessman, was part of a media crew and one of the famous faces who was exclusively invited to get behind the wheel of a Maserati by Tsogo Sun’s Silvestar Casino in Muldersdrift, Golf Reef City and Montecasino as part of the Dream Chaser promotion in conjunction with the Maserati brand.

The event was held at Gerotek, South Africa’s renowned car testing facility, which is rated amongst the best in the world.

The guests had an opportunity to manoeuvre the vehicle in a skidpan and test the speed of the sports car on a high-speed track.

As a fast car lover, Goliath, the Melrose Arch Comedy Club host cited what made a Maserati phenomenal. “What I like about the Italians is that they understand that cars and driving is an experience so everything needs to work, from the sound of the engine versus the way the seat holds you and the driving position, to the thickness of the steering wheel, the way the instruments clusters are put together, the acceleration and the gear-change,” Goliath explained.

He also praised the sensitivity of the car and its immaculate interior design. “Everything is just so emotional; the cars are implacably finished and the design is incredible,” he said.

Goliath is part of a family entertainment brand called The Goliaths which consist of him, his sister Kate, cousin Nicholas and friend Donovan.

The foursome opened their third comedy club on the continent, one of them being hosted every Thursday to Saturday night at Melrose Arch in Rosebank.

First of all, to be at the facility where all military vehicles and local brand manufacturers test their vehicles, was indeed one of my biggest and most memorable moments, leading to the Maserati test drive experience. Gerotek is an amazing facility with 27 different tracks; it’s no surprise the facility is rated one of the best in the world.
