Hello Beautiful to electrify Good Luck Bar

The Good Luck Bar has made a name for itself as one of Joburg’s musical hotspots, so on 9 September, Hello Beautiful will be added to the long list of musicians who have released new albums at the trendy venue at 1Fox.

Hello Beautiful is the name by which music producer Matthieu Auriacombe is known to his fans and colleagues in the music industry.

At a young age, he discovered a love for music which led him to make his way into the industry as the guitarist for the band Pity the Fool during his high school and college years.

“By the end of primary school, my brother gave me an acoustic guitar and taught me punk songs, it was then when I realised, this is it,” he explained.

After discovering that he really enjoyed the electronic side of music – electronic instruments, synthesisers and production – he officially broke into the music industry in 2013, having released his first EP, Supernova Love, as a music producer.

Asked what it is that a producer really does, he explained, “As a producer myself, and someone that makes music for people, the role of a producer is someone that supervises or guide’s the entire process of making a record or song, arranging and selecting songs and writing music with or for an artist.”

Now, two years after releasing his self-titled second album, he is back with his latest offering, Leftover Dreams, which he will debut at Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg. “I haven’t released music in almost two years. I took the time to craft my art into something more specific to my taste. All-in-all, I’m very excited about this release,” he said.

“I’ve been writing loads of music for other artists the past two years, so being able to finally release some of my own music is very exciting. Of course, I only chose the best songs for this EP.

“I’m pretty stoked [to release the EP at Good Luck Bar], there’s an epic line-up, a great venue run by great people who have a love for the music scene in South Africa.”

Staying true to his sound, he describes the feeling of Leftover Dreams as ‘electronic, synth, dream pop, space music, French-electro’ – sounds inspired by his everyday experiences – and it features a number of prominent musicians in the industry including Alastair Thomas, the frontman for Shortstraw.
