What you need to know about Whatsapp’s new relationship with Facebook

Whatsapp's new policy details how Whatsapp plans to share information with Facebook.

Approximately two years after Facebook purchased WhatsApp, the new WhatsApp terms and privacy policy opens the door between the two social platforms.

According to WhatsApp, the policy is to reflect on and understand new features, such a WhatsApp calling and to explain that even though it will stay separate from Facebook, WhatsApp will share information with Facebook to allow WhatsApp and Facebook to improve their services.

What you need to know about these changes:

  •  WhatsApp wants to connect businesses with its clientele but it will not allow third party banner ads
  •  Messages, photos and account information will not be shared with Facebook
  •  Shared information will be used to fight spam and abuse on social media
  •  Any shared information will not be visible by others on Facebook
  •  You will not be required to create a Facebook account to use WhatsApp.

For more information and the policy, visit Whatsapp’s website.
