JOBURG – The weekend is upon us again and here is what you can do.

Once more the weekend is upon us and decisions on how to spend it must be made. With rain and partly cloudy weather predicted by the South African Weather Service over the weekend there is still plenty to do to keep you and your family entertained.

Volleyball at Marks Park

The Flying Fish National Beach Volleyball Series, in partnership with Volleyball South Africa, will bring the beach to Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia this weekend for the seventh edition of the tournament. The second season of this series was launched in Durban in August 2015 and has since been to Pretoria, Polokwane, Cape Town, and Bloemfontein. The series has seen the participation of teams from across South Africa, as well as regional, and international teams from countries such as Botswana, USA, and the Netherlands.

The Orbit’s two-year celebration music festival

The Orbit celebrates its two-year anniversary with a music festival and will host the remarkable Steve Dyer, creator of the Mahube ensemble, followed by Siya Makuzeni the young Standard Bank jazz artist for 2016 and her sextet. The night will end with Uhadi, featuring the legendary Sibongile Khumalo as well as some of the best musicians on the South African jazz scene.

Sophiatown The Mix presents Sophiatown Jazz Encounters

Sophiatown The Mix presents Sophiatown Jazz Encounters with Marcus Wyatt trumpeter, composer and producer with five albums under his belt, joined by Bokani Dyer a previous Standard Bank award winner and Sydney Mnisi who is hailed as an artistic genius. Cooler boxes welcome as well as own snacks. Come listen to smooth sounding jazz while relaxing with good company.

Ballet de la Jeunesse

The Ballet de la Jeunesse will be held at the Roodepoort Theatre to raise funds in aid of the Abraham Kriel Childcare. This dance spectrum is presented by young dancers who will dance their hearts out for a worthy cause. Come support and enjoy.

Balcony TV at Randlords

Any Given Sunday

Ink Entertainment presents Any Given Sunday as they party in the sunshine at Constitution Hill (Women’s Prison). On the decks will be Ryan the DJ, DJ Warras, DJ Chrizz Beatz and others. As Monday is a public holiday dancing on a Sunday is encouraged.
