Season 11 of the South African Idols finale took place at Carnival City on 22 November.
Karabo Mogane (24) from Nelspruit proved to be the conqueror of South African Idols after 10 weeks of competing with other top 15 finalists.
The 2015 Idols SA finale show was broadcasted live on Channel 114 of the DSTV, which is produced by MultiChoice, based in Ferndale, Randburg.
This year’s show received a record breaking 79 million votes for the whole Season 11 competition.
Mogane walked away with prizes worth R1.2 million, which also includes a brand new car, a recording contract with Universal Music Africa and he will be in the audience at the live American Idol final in the US next year.
The stage was filled with South African talent such as MiCasa, Judith Sephuma, Emtee, Nakhane Toure, DJ Citi Lyts and last year’s SA Idols winner, Vincent Bones. SA Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo also dazzled the crowd with his dance performance.
The winner Mogane, even took to the stage with a duet featuring Judith Sephuma.
Though Mogane won, a lot of people on social media had expected Mmatema Moremi to be the victorious one, and they did not hold back on Twitter.
Clips from the live show were tweeted with Mogane and Moremi’s reactions and viewers seem to think that Moremi had also thought she had won.
Her reaction even had the crew confused and some people ran to her to congratulate her.
Both finalists had a great number of supporters and their votes spoke for them in the end.
