Miss SA finalist Saihania Naidoo

SHARONLEA – Local resident is one of the 25 semi finalists for Miss SA 2016.

Saihania Naidoo from Sharonlea has been nominated as one of the 25 semi finalists for Miss South Africa 2016.

Naidoo (21) currently a LLB student at the University of Witwatersrand said it has always been one of her biggest dreams to become Miss SA as she wants to make her country proud.

“I clearly remember the night Rolene Strauss was crowned Miss World. My first reaction was tears because she made me to feel proud to be South African. Some people make our country proud by winning gold medals, some by producing awarding-winning movies and others by being powerful, selfless women. I know I have it in me to be this woman, “said Naidoo.

She said she has never entered any beauty pageants before but entered Miss SA not merely for the title but because she wants to use the title positivley.

“My lack of pageant experience is overturned by the fact that I am a typical South African citizen looking to make a difference. A relate able, authentic and understanding South African.”

Naidoo said she believes her law experience could have a positive affect as she will use her knowledge to act as a buffer.

“My role, among many other things, would be to ensure that people are aware of their basic rights, that they know when and how to use them and can make a judgment to know when that right has been violated,” said Naidoo.

She said Marilyn Ramos has been the most inspiring Miss SA winner to her as she stayed true to herself before, during and after her reign.

Naidoo said her role models are Redi Thlabi from 702 Talk Radio and Devi Sankaree Govender from Carte Blanche as these are examples of strong woman who are always on the side of justice.
