25 Miss SA 2016 semi-finalists announced

JOBURG-Miss SA 2016 semi-finalists will soon make their first public appearance and show their support towards breast cancer.

Miss South Africa Pageant has announced its 25 semi-finalists and they will make their first public appearance on 4 October.

The semi-finalists will show their support towards breast cancer at the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo which will be hosted at the Inanda Club in the countryside north of Rosebank.

Managing executive, Cell C Foundation Suzette van der Merwe said Cell C has associated themselves with the Miss South Africa 2016 pageant as it forms part of their ongoing strategy to empower woman.

Nine Squared Communications and Events manager Stephanie Weil said of the 25 semi-finalists, only 12 will compete for the Miss South Africa 2016 title in March next year.

“The Miss South Africa pageant is the most prestigious pageant in South Africa. Some of the women who have worn the crown, are icons in many different spheres of life,” said Weil

Here are the 25 Miss South Africa 2016 semi-finalists:

Shanice Smith (New Germany, Durban), Zinhle Nkonyane (Pongola), Tumi Tlou (Soweto), Sarah Botes (Vanderbijlpark), Reabetswe Sechoaro (Pretoria East), Tayla Skye Robinson (Roodepoort), Sharon-Rose Khumalo (Pretoria), Deidre Engelbrecht (Centurion), S’nethemba Mbatha (Sebokeng), Kerusha Govender (Durban), Schane Venter (Alberton), Saihania Naidoo (Lenasia), Kabelo Mashiane (Daveyton), Cara Frew (Sandhurst), Loreal Magro (Zakariyya Park), Marciel Hopkins (Paarl), Lee-Zanda Jonas (Belhar),Ronette Chambers (Cape Town), Sinovuyo Witbooi Mdekazi (Kuilsriver), Mikaela Oosthuizen (Port Elizabeth), Luyolo Mngonyama (Umtata), Lizel Birkenstock (Umhlanga), Felicia Muwayi (Nelspruit), Ntandoyenkosi Kunene (Mkhondo), Elizabeth Molapo (Bloemfontein).

“The semi-finalists are an impressive group. Among them is a geologist, several psychologists, law students and a international television presenter,” added Weil.

Claudia Henkel Sun International (license holder of Miss South Africa pagent) PR Manager, said she was “blown away” by the standard of these entrants.

“The pageant was given a new look to make it more relevant to our modern society. It continues to attract young smart woman who are socially committed and beautiful. Sun International is delighted with the caliber of the girls,” said Henkel.
