Editor's note

Time to support our boys

Enough with the jokes now, let's show our support for the Springboks.

The loss to Japan hit us hard and was a shock to every South African rugby fan.

I think the Japanese played well and they deserved to win, and I think that it is an eye opener for the Boks to up their game.

Everyone has voiced their opinion about coach Heyneke Meyer making a mistake by selecting players who are too old and injury prone, but at the end of the day these are still the people representing our country and we need to support them regardless.

I think the Boks went into the game thinking it was going to be an easy win and they did not play with passion, and now they are paying dearly for that mistake.

The jokes flying around on social media are funny, but a bit harsh too and are probably making the players feel even worse. If we stand any chance of winning we need to show our support and rally behind our team.

Hopefully Meyer and the team have realised that in order to win this tournament we need to play with passion and treat every match like the final.

As a nation we need to stand behind the Boks whether they win or lose. There is no doubt that rugby has the ability to unite this country and all South Africans, whether you are a fan or not, need to show your support.

Go Bokke!
