UPDATE: Stamp collector makes R1 000 for charity

FAIRLAND - Brian Folley turns a hobby into help for Ry-Ma-In.

Retiree, Brian Folley, donated money that he has made from selling off parts of his impressive stamp collection to Ry-Ma-In, an independent living centre for quadriplegics and paraplegics in Linden.

Folley boasts an exceptional collection of South African stamps. On 17 August he made a call to interested parties for donations of South African stamps that can be found abroad. Folley sold some of the stamps in his collection to fellow enthusiasts and has since earned a sum total of R1 015.

Folley retired early due to health concerns and though his work is slow, he is devoted to the task of cleaning and sorting the stamps. Folley has promised that all of the money he makes through the sale of his collection should go to Ry-Ma-In.

Folley hopes that his endeavors will produce more rewards for Ry-Ma-In and asks that donations of South African stamps continue. Those searching for stamps might find favour with Folley’s collection of about 300 000 registered labels with about 22 000 differences. The collection dates back a number of decades.
