Acquisto is set to make big waves

BRYANSTON – Danilo Acquisto talks about his career in the South African media and entertainment industry.

Media professional and presenter Danilo Acquisto has recently been announced as the newest presenter for Afternoon Express on SABC 3. The Bryanston resident spoke about his career and his latest venture on the show.

Acquisto started his tertiary studies at the University of Cape Town (UCT) were he graduated with a degree in law and sociology. He explained that he had a passion for radio and ended up joining UCT Radio. “While I was there, Hectic Nine-9 asked me to audition. I did and won their presenter search. I presented for them for four years and that is where it all started,” he said.

He pointed out that he did not come from a wealthy family, “Everything I own I have worked for. My parents did everything in their capacity to get me a great education,” he said.

Acquisto is an alumni of St Stithians Boy’s College, and is very grateful for the time he spent there. “I can honestly say that I was taught by some of the best teachers in the country. St Stithians allowed me to explore my passions and encouraged me to always break beyond the realm of possibility,” he said.

Acquisto describes himself as a busybody and loves the work he does. “If I am not entertaining on TV or my radio shows, I feel lost. My friends and relationships do tend to suffer with the million and one things I am doing. But I am very good at being self-aware and know when it’s important to forgo a commitment to pray, be with friends, contact my parents, take personal time, and/or start a new project,” he said.

He describes working for Afternoon Express as a wonderful experience. “It’s live, interactive, mature and elegant. We bring in only the best guests and leave no stone unturned in our interviews. This is definitely going to be a hugely successful show,” he concluded.
