The weekend is here and the City of Gold has something for everyone. Here is a list of places to have fun this weekend.

• Gala Concert

The Easter Choir of Johannesburg, under the baton of the composer Louis Fourie, will perform a gala concert on Saturday 23 May at the NG Church Horison North, corner of Crane and Hawkstreet, Horisonpark. The choir consist of 30 members and will perform extracts from The St Lucas Passion, Jerusalem and Gloria, all composed by Louis Fourie. The St Matthews Passion, also composed by Louis Fourie will be performed during the second part of the programme. The choir will be accompanied by flute players, an organist and a pianist. Tickets cost R50 per person and include wine and cheese after the concert

Rubber Duc at Primi

Popular local group Rubber Duc will be performing live at Primi Lifestyle Garden Centre on the 23 May. Since hatching in late 2013, Rubber Duc has taken the South African music scene by storm, and somewhat by surprise. Their very first single, Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That, hit the charts at full flight and peaked at the Number 2 spot on 5FM and East Coast Radio and made the Top 10 on several other radio stations.

Songstress Judith Sephuma invites you to a special live performance on 26 May at 1pm for an exclusive media listening session of One Word at the World of Yamaha Theatre in Sandton.

Silver Star – The Globe

Make your way to the South Africa Sweet and Snack Expo at Silverstar Casino on 22–24 May. The event was inspired by Domaine des Dieux, a boutique wine farm nestled in the foothills close to Hermanus, who produces small volumes of superior award-winning wines. The Boutique is looking for the best ginger-pairing sweet or snack to compliment the exquisite taste of their 2009 Claudia Brut MCC. The winner will be chosen at the expo and will walk away with a case of 2009 Claudia Brut MCC and enjoy the advantages of a five-month marketing and promotions campaign immediately post event with Domaine des Dieux.

Bassline Comedy Night Feat. Tats Nkonzo

Gavin Kelly and Mo Mothebe will be back at Bassline, Newtown on 22 May at 7.30pm to present an exciting comedy series, Bassline Comedy Nights. Tats Nkonzo, Skhumba Hlophe and Glen Biderman-Pam will be doing their best to tickle your funny bone.

The Black Cat Bones

The Black Cat Bones will be playing live at Stanley Beer Yard in Milpark on 23 May at 2pm. Join them and tune your ears to your favourite tracks and experience them in a whole new light. Entrance is free.

• Schulbasar 2015

Beer lovers make your way to the Deutsche Internationale Schule in Parktown on 23 May at 8pm for the 125th annual Schulbasar. The Schulbasar has become a highlight on the Johannesburg social calendar in recent years and caters for the entire family. Shortstraw will headline the live entertainment while Distell Breweries will again be the main suppliers in the beer tent. Tickets are available online from Webtickets, prices range between R60 and R100.
