RANDBURG – Hoërskool Randburg is proud of Neena de Frey for making it so far in her musical career at such a young age.

Hoërskool Randburg Grade 11 pupil Neena de Frey has been selected to join the Randburg Symphonic Orchestra as a piano soloist for a

once-in-a-lifetime show.

Annette Steenekamp of Hoërskool Randburg said, “Ten pupils out of 28 were chosen as soloists to play in a concert created specifically for young, upcoming and talented musical instrument players and we are honoured to announce that De Frey is one of them.”

She said the concert will take place on 31 May at the NG Church Randburg South in Jean Road and it will start at 3.30pm.

According to Steenekamp, De Frey will play Kabalewsky’s Piano Concerto No.3 in D major at the concert.

“She started playing piano at the age of nine and she received various diplomas for her hard work. She also received a gold certificate at the Gauteng Central Eisteddfod and she was selected as the best Eisteddfod achiever in 2014,” added Steenekamp.

“Neena has passed all of her music exams with distinctions thus far and she is on the Roll of Honour at the University of South Africa (Unisa) for Grade 2, 4 and 5 levels in piano and on theoretical level she received it for Grade 1 and 5 piano. Not only is she a star when it comes to the piano but she is also very strong academically. We wish her good luck for the big show,” concluded Steenekamp.
