•Doep is nie Dood nie

Jannie du Toit will be dazzling fans on stage on 14 May at the Giardino Restaurant/Theatre at Milpark. Doep is nie Dood nie features the formidable body of songs written by the late Koos du Plessis who is regarded by many as the Bob Dylan of Afrikaans music. Koos tragically died at a relatively young age 30 years ago, but has left behind a wealth of wisdom in his songs and other writings.

• Fire Thursday Reggae Night

Fire Thursdays present Admiral and Jah Seed for a reggae night special at Newtown on 14 May. The duo’s partnership pre-dates the BBM generation, the two have been making good music side by side since 1997. Admiral will take his place at the decks while Jah Seed sets the tone for a vocal trip.

• Boosh 26

Boosh is back at Mark’s Park Sports Club on 17 May at 12pm and promises to be the best you have come to expect and possibly the only way to jam your heart out on a Sunday afternoon. The line-up: Joshua Kempen, Float Parade, Crystal Park, Fuzigish and Shortstraw.

• Deep in the City

Mercury Live is ready to make dreams come true with Deep In The City. Join them at Mercury live in Newtown on 16 May at 9pm when they party until it hurts.

Line-up: Vin Groovin, Rikay, Hybrid, Feed The Animals and Penthouse.

R50 gets you in before 10pm and R70 thereafter.

• MamaMagic the Baby Expo

Make your way to the Coca-Cola Dome with your children on 14–17 May for the MamaMagic expo. Barney is one of the biggest draw cards as he has so many MamaMagic fans, with kids of all ages coming to the show to see their favourite dino hero live. Aimed at pre-school children, Barney will be teaching a number of valuable and educational lessons through song and dance.

• Evening of inspiration

South Africa’s most-loved nasheed performer, Zain Bhikha, heads the line-up for this year’s four-city tour on 17 May at the Wits Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg. Joining him on stage is Moroccon-born artist, Khalid Belrhouzi, and funny man, Joey Rasdien, who will have audiences in stitches, thanks to his unique brand of comedy.

• St Petersburg Ballet

If you are a ballet lover, then make your way to the Teatro at Montecasino on 14 May until 17 May for the three full length ballets featuring Giselle, Don Quixote and Swan Lake.

Parkers Comedy Festival 2015
