• Cool As Folk Jozi 2015

Make your way down to Bassline in Newtown on 10 April at 6pm to celebrate people and the planet. Cool as Folk brings you a sizzling hot line-up and a reason to dance to the sounds of the green drum for a very worthy cause.

• Crazy in Love

If you are a theatre lover, then make your way to the Barney Simon Theatre in Johanneburg for a tragic-comic story of a father-daughter search for a missing bride and mother on 10 April at 8.15pm. When the independent and free-spirited Leon is abandoned at the altar by his bride to be, he is left literally holding the baby. From his grief comes a solemn resolve: to travel the country with his infant daughter, Ginny, until he finds his lost love and their trinity can be reunited.

• Run for the Hills

The Bohemian in Westdene is pulling out the big guns on 10 April at 7pm and calling in a few locals who will be bringing you an evening of sweet, dirty rock ‘n roll on 10 April at 7pm. Line-up: Hellcats, The Make-Overs, Raygun Royal, Momo and The Tazers. R30 gets you in.

• Titi Luzipo Sextet

The Orbit – Home of Jazz in Braamfontein is where it’s happening on 10 April at 8:30pm

Witness Titi Luzipo, who was born and bred in Port Elizabeth, has since blossomed into a jazz sensation that started singing at the tender age of 5. Luzipo’s singing career boomed at the funeral of the late Dolly Rathebe’s husband Welcome Duru. She received a standing ovation at the funeral and has since left all her audiences longing for more. George Benson, Judith Sephuma, Gloria Bossman, Feya Faku, Zwai Bala are just among the few names Luzipo has been privileged to work with.

• Seven Sounds – April

Make your way to the Maboneng Precinct on 11 April for the Seven Sounds. Seven Sounds is for the music lovers, and for those who enjoy and appreciate a diverse collection of musical genres. The line-up is composed of seven original artists, creating a sonic landscape both eclectic and unique.

Line-up: Flint Meet Spark, Skorokoro Ensemble, The Brother Moves On, Michael Plaxton-Harrison, Shadowclub, The Muffinz and Death by Misadventure.

• Human-to-Human with Maya Turbo

Human-to-Human brings three phenomenal poets to the Afrikan Freedom Station in Westdene on 11 April at 6 pm. They will be coming in to share their human experiences, stories and everything in between. Join them and the rest of the city’s citizens that prefer to swim against the tide for an evening of verbal therapy.

•The Squire’s Annual Birthday Bash

The annual Squire’s Birthday Bash at Rumours on 11 and 12 April features 30 bands and 12 acoustic artists (18 bands perform on 11 April with 12 bands on 12 April) performing across three stages. The bands lined up offer a mixed and diverse musical spectrum, performing music that appeals to a wide audience both young and old at heart. The music ranges from pop to rock with a bit of punk and metal plus old school ’70s rock added for good measure. Doors open at 2pm on both days and the cover charge is R40 per person on each day.
