St Stithians’s winning mountain biker

Meet mountain bike champion Luke Evans.

BRYANSTON – Luke Evans has represented St Stithians Boys College in the Gauteng High School Mountain Bike series over the last few months.

He came second in two of the races and won the last one (each event has about 100 competitors in his age group).

The final leg took place over the last weekend, and he won.

He has also been competing in the National Half Marathon Series where he took 3rd place, and finished the series with a third place overall.

His House Director, Wendy Armstrong, feels that Luke represents everything that St Stithians instills in the scholars. “To achieve this amazing feat

takes hours of practise, dedication and, I’m sure, pain. The determination to excel is very much a part of the St Stithians education.

To foster the determination to win, while at the same time showing humility in triumph, is what true leaders are made of.

We are so proud of Luke, both as a sportsman and as a person. Well done, Luke!”
