Randburg to welcome UK’s best curves

NORTHWOLD – Britain's best curves to open a dancing company in Johannesburg. The first to benefit will be Randburg's nursery schools.

Miss Beauty British Curve 2014, and semi-finalist of Britain’s Got Talent in 2010, Yvonne Cardoso is giving back to Randburg.

Born in Edenvale, but later immigrant to the United Kingdom, Cardoso is a 41-year-old mother of two who is rocking the plus-size industry abroad.

She won five awards at Miss Curvy UK this year, including the main title Miss Beauty British Curve, and Miss Top-model, Miss Fashion, Miss Best Evening Wear and Miss Best Swim Wear.

Her flamboyant dance act, Dance Flavourz, made it to the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2010.

The act is led by Cardoso’s husband Francis.

She will be visiting Johannesburg between 31 August and 14 September to start a dance company that will teach nursery schools her dancing syllabus.

She will stay with her sister in Northwold while Kiddies Dance Flavourz infiltrates the Johannesburg dancing scene, starting with nursery schools in Randburg.

She says that the modelling industry in South Africa favours skinny woman, and she hopes to change this.

“In the modelling world, if you’re a size 12 it is already a problem,” she explains.

“In dancing there is also a struggle [for larger women]. The market for curvy girls in the UK and USA is great. I hope it can be like that in South Africa. God created us all perfect. All of us deserve a chance.”

Cardoso will participate in Miss Universe Curve in Trinidad and Tobago in November.
