Models to represent SA in New York

RANDBURG – Six local models will represent Figures Models Randburg at the International Modelling and Talent Association's event in New York in July.

Six models from Figures Models Randburg will participate in the distinguished International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) event in New York between 20 and 24 July.

The event is one that defines careers, as only agents from the world’s most prestigious fashion and entertainment agencies are permitted to scout for talent there.

Many successful models, actors, dancers, singers and songwriters were first noticed at the event, such as Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel and Katie Holmes.

Jamie Fermor (17) and Saskia Wagner (16) are excited to take part in the event for Figures Models Randburg.

“Since I was little, all I wanted to do was go to New York [to model]” said Fermor, who lives in Randpark Ridge.

“This year it is finally happening.”

She explained that modelling is a passion of hers, that no other hobbies entice her like modelling does, and she aspires to work as a model for an agency in New York.

She also wants to teach modelling.

“When I first started modelling, I was nervous. But I became more confident. Now, when I step off the ramp, all I want to do is get back on,” Fermor added.

Wagner, who lives in Honeydew and was Figures Models’ national female model of the year for the 13 to 15 year-old age group in 2013, is also passionate about modelling.

“I want to be a full-time model after school,” she said.

“I always thought modelling was pretty cool. Now it is my biggest dream; it is all I want to do.”

She added that she might also study to be an accountant, and her favourite hobby is horse riding.

Owner of Figures Models Randburg Merlene Spies said that the event could help these aspiring models enter the professional world.
