Maxwell releases new CD just before SA tour
JOBURG- South Africa is abuzz with anticipation as Maxwell's SA tour is announced.
The Best of Maxwell: For Lovers Only was released in South Africa recently, prior to his arrival in the country in this coming month for a whirlwind three-city tour.
This latest compilation features fifteen tracks, many of which will be on the SA Tour playlist – a sure delight for local fans. The much loved popular numbers like Ascenion, Sumthin’ Sumthin’ and Whenever Wherever Whatever feature alongside several uncut numbers including Silently, Get to know You and For Lovers Only.
In 1996, Maxwell took the music world by storm with his debut, Urban Hang Suite. The critically acclaimed CD received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album and went on to achieve double platinum status. He was heralded as the future of soul music and proved his staying power when he followed up with 1998’s platinum seller Embrya. Maxwell’s third album, Now (2001) debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and eventually reached double platinum status.
