Randburg Highland Dancer takes SA championship

For the third consecutive year, Marle Bosman has been named South African Highland Dancing champion.

Years of dedication to her passion paid off for Marlè Bosman when she was again named South African Highland Dancing champion on September 14.

Bosman, who dances for the Robinson Dance Studio dedicates hours a week to her craft and has all but perfected it.

At a celebration following the championships, Bosman thanked her dance teachers and the families and friends of all the dancers at the studio.

“Without your support, none of us would be able to achieve what we have, so thank you,” she said, before enjoying a ceremonial sip of sparkling wine from one of her many trophies earned on the day.

Besides the South African championship, Bosman also won the South African Premiership and the Broadswords competition, and was named the South African dancer with the most points scored on the day. She has also recently returned from a trip to Scotland, where she participated in the World Championships.

The SA championships, which took place at Jeppe Boys High School were judged by three esteemed judges, Shendle Russell from Scotland, Allison Kietzmann from KZN and Majory Povall from Gauteng, and saw dancers from around the world participating.

The Robinson Dance Studio’s success was not limited to Bosman. Abbey McGill placed second in both the Beginners Highland and National sections, while Crystal Gouws placed first in the Beginners Highland section. Jessica Powell won the Premier Highland all-ages category and Garren Beaven placed fourth overall in the adults championship.

Winning medals in other categories were Olivia Montgomery, Aurora Reeks, Andrea Zilts, Crystal Gouws, Abbey McGill, Jessica Powell, Garren Beaven and Marle Bosman.

The studio is familiar with the SA Championships, with teachers Elinor and Caitlin Boyes having won the title several times, and Bosman now the winner for the third consecutive year.
The studio congratulates its dancers for their hard work and looks forward to the years of Highland dancing that lie ahead.
