Randburg FC trio get a new challenge as they join SuperSport United
Randburg Football Club has produced yet another trio of top talents, getting them closer to their dreams.
At academies, or development teams, players stay until they reach the age of 19, before they move on to bigger clubs which have more age groups and exposure. Some possibly even reach the Premier league, or the professional lower leagues.
Randburg FC has a reputation of producing and developing great players in their Gauteng Development League structure, before allowing them to spread their wings.

Following in the steps of Shandre Campbell and Ime Okon, who are making waves in the professional sides, is Colby Sinclair, Ndumiso Mgijima, and young Christian Serra who are a recent additions to the SuperSports United books. The trio were recently signed by the Betway Premiership side, and are part of their reserve team, playing in the Diski Challenge League.
Mgijima and Sinclair were donning the Randburg U19 jersey, while Serra, a left footed defender, was playing for the U17s. He explained that the move is hard but also the best for his career.
“Randburg is the club that I’ve grown the most in and I’ve developed an attachment to the club, but it is the best to move, as this will get me closer to my dreams of being a professional. So, it’s difficult, but it is necessary.”

He added that it means a lot for his career, and gives him a taste of what it takes to become a professional footballer. The hours of hard work and sacrifices that it takes to achieve this dream.
Serra will be moving to a new environment, meeting new people, and competing with other young talent considered the best in the country in the Diski Challenge.
“I will miss the togetherness and ‘family’ of Randburg, but I also look forward to getting to face a new challenge and new obstacles, and pushing myself to new limits. I expect it to be harder, faster paced, and more physical but with hard work, determination, and patience I’ll be competing in no time.”
All three players will be looking to hit the ground running and fit in with their new team. SuperSport has featured in two games in the new season, with Mgijima getting 45 minutes on the field, and Sinclair on the sidelines in both games.
Serra, who is yet to be featured, said that things are going well, and he hopes they can win the league. “Of course, it’s challenging with the new level, new players, new dynamics, but I’m getting along nicely. With due time it’ll get easier and better. Hopefully, I will perform and win games and get promoted to the first team and pursue a professional career.”
