Rand Central Football Association (RCFA) U17 division log leaders Old Parks dropped points at home after a poor display that led to a 2-1 loss against Florida Albion Football Club.
The visitors quickly opened and found the back of the net and made their presence felt in the first half of the game with Omphile Moalosi’s goal. They created more chances and applied pressure on Old Parks who were struggling to get control of the game.
Florida coach Kejori Mokoro said that they should have wrapped up the game in the first 10 minutes, but his players were a little bit relaxed after getting a goal.
“We could’ve scored three goals easily, but the players started to drop and undermine Old Parks. They had to get a reminder which was the equaliser and they started playing.”
Syabonga Mazibuko equaliser (1-1) got the home side back in the game before halftime.\
The visitors looked lively and more dangerous in the second half. They took the game to the home side. They created better opportunities but lacked the finishing touch.
The home side struggled to find their forwards and lost possession easily. Florida high’s pressing paid off with a scrappy goal by Zahir Guman to make it 2-1 and take home all three points.
“The boys played well. I can’t be hard on them; they beat the log leaders and I’ll take it how I can.”
Old Parks coach Tanaka Mberi said that they started very sloppily but they did try to find their rhythm in the game.
“There were a couple of mistakes that caused us to concede, especially the second-half goal but it’s football we can only get better. We going to go work on getting better focus, more on combination plays and having more shorts on targets.”
