Sporting success at Rand Park Primary School

Undefeated tennis and swimming teams, provincial team selection and a five-wicket haul are celebrated by the school.

Rand Park Primary School is celebrating the success of a number of its sports stars.

After setting four new records at the school’s interhouse gala, Josh Drury became the first person from the school to be selected in the U13 Gauteng Schools swimming team.

The school’s proud sports coordinator, Nica Stadtlander also boasted the success of Orefile Likhethe, who was selected for the province’s U13 hockey team.

“At the end of our swimming season there were numerous A and B team swimmers that were undefeated and our B Swimming Team made it to the Top 5 C League swimming Gala held at Trinityhouse Little Falls,” she said.

Josh Drury set four new records at the recent inter-house gala.

“We ended off in third place at the Top 5 Swimming Gala and quite a few of those swimmers received top three medals in their individual races.”

The school’s senior girls’ tennis team remained undefeated for the season.

Qa’id Ismail received a cricket ball trophy for taking five wickets for six runs against Franklin D Roosevelt Primary School in the open B cricket team.

“We also sent a few of our rugby players to the Central Lions Rugby trials and four of our boys made it to the next round.
