Team In-Sync skaters earn personal best in Poland

Northgat's synchronised skaters take on Europe at an international competition.

Local synchronised ice-skating group, Team In-Sync has returned from a successful showing in Europe.

The outfit from Northgate Ice Rink travelled to Gdansk, Poland, for the seventh Hevelius Cup International Synchronised Skating Competition.

They landed in freezing weather with plenty of energy and positivity for their upcoming performance said team manager Lana Player.

“The ice rink felt more like a stadium and they were in awe of what needed to be done,” she said.

“They worked very hard at all their unofficial and official practices and felt ready for the competition.”

There were 10 other teams from across Europe in the mixed-age sections.

The South Africans skated last and did their country proud with a personal best score at the competition.

This earned them sixth place overall.

“We would like to thank The South African Figure Skating Association, Central Gauteng Figure Skating Association, coach Dino Quattrocecere, assistant coach Nadia Snyman and the parents for all their hard work, dedication and support in making this dream a reality.”
