Randburg Mets continues winning streak

The club's reserve team wins 10 league games straight and heads into cup.

A local baseball team continued its winning streak when they gave a visiting side a thumping.

Randburg Mets Baseball Club reserve team easily beat Cobras 22–7 in seven frames at a match at Randburg Sports Complex on July 24.

The outfit has already won its league with 10 victories in a row and now heads into the local cup that will be played through until September.

“The league has been decided and we won it well,” said coach Marius Lourens.

“We now head into the cup where we want to continue our form. The guys have really been special this season.”

He said in the match against Cobras, on a warm and sunny Sunday, Mets were slow in the first couple frames and found themselves down 5–3 at one point.

“But we came back and hit the ball well. The guys listened to their coach and the game plan, and our pitching was good.”

The runs came in and the pressure piled on the visitors until the lead seemed unreachable.
