Cricket club’s winter tournament a big hit

Annual T20 tournament draws cricketers from across the city.

It was all fours, sixes and wickets galore at Randburg Cricket Club’s annual Winter Tournament.

Five teams were drafted from all players who registered, and this saw cricketers from all over Joburg and its different clubs play together.

The T20 tournament proved a hit as always and provided a warm outlet for sports enthusiasts from May until July.

“The tournament turned out very well, and gave people a window opportunity to see the club,” said club captain Harry Lediga.

“Pango Ninjas beat Super Kings in the final, which was a bit of a fairy tale story because they started the tournament at the bottom of the table. They went on to win the semi and the final, so the matches that mattered the most.”

There have been a number of winter tournaments on the go in the province, so Lediga said it was encouraging to see this one so well supported.
