Local cricketers win Tri-Nations trophy for SA

Man of the matches, top player of the tournament, and other awards rain down on Rand Park learners.

Three of Rand Park High School’s 1st team cricketers who also compete in indoor cricket were selected to represent South Africa in the U16 Indoor Cricket Tri-Nations Tournament.

Grade 10 learners, Jordan Visagie, Juan-Pierre Fourie and Trey Clark, competed in fixtures against England and the UAE as part of the South African Colts team at the Insportz Arena in Dubai from March 26 to April 1.

The Colts won all six games in the round-robin and went on to win the final against England to bring home gold medals and the team trophy.

The three boys from Rand Park all received individual accolades at the tournament:

Trey Clark:

  • One man of the match award
  • Selected for the all-stars team (top eight players of the tournament)
  • Awarded the bowler of the tournament trophy
  • Most valued player of the tournament award
  • Top player of the tournament trophy

Jordan Visagie:

  • Two man of the match awards
  • Selected for the all-stars team
  • Was the runner-up batsman of the tournament
  • Placed fourth overall in the player of the tournament section

Juan-Pierre Fourie:

  • Selected as team captain
  • He was applauded for his great leadership of the team and his sportsmanship on and off the field.

The boys have been invited to trial for the 2023 junior world series which will be held in South Africa in 2023.
