Tennis with a veteran ace at Darrenwood Sports Club

DARRENWOOD – Neil van Loggerenberg has coached tennis for 32 years and he still enjoys every minute of it.

Tennis is always more fun to learn when an ace is teaching you.

And someone who has been coaching the game for 32 years could certainly be considered that.

Chairperson and club captain at Darrenwood Sports Club, Neil Loggerenberg owns his own coaching academy, and it is simply called Neil’s Tennis Coaching.

Winning tournaments and club championships himself has felt good, and the witty coach still does that and plays for the club’s 1st team.

But seeing one of his learners excel is even more special.

“To watch your students improve and achieve results is very satisfying,” he told Randburg Sun.

“I have students at UCT, students in Switzerland, some that immigrated that play league for local clubs. So it’s also a personal achievement for me to see them prosper even after they stopped tennis lessons. In my club team, I have three students whom I coached many years ago who play with me.”
