Old Parks is ready for the new season

BORDEAUX – Coaches and players at Old Parks Soccer Club are ready for the new season.

The new soccer season is around the corner and Old Parks Soccer Club is already in training so that their players can meet it with skill and confidence.

Last year saw the club’s women’s side promoted to the Regional League, which is just one division below the top tier, the Sasol Women’s League. Other points of celebration for the club were the attraction of many new young players to the game and the selection of players for academy teams.

“Last season was awesome, we had a great turnout of boys and girls, especially in the younger age groups,” said U6s and U7s coach, Micaela Pimenta.

“Our highlight was that the women got promoted. This season we are hoping on having more players come out so we can enter full teams throughout and hopefully good football all-round.”

Director of coaching at Old Parks, Gary Roodt said while the U6 to U10 teams will only start training from 17 February, the U11 to U17 teams have already started.

“Last season we had three players from our junior section moving on to academy teams such as Kaiser Chiefs, Black Aces and Bidvest Wits,” he said

“We are always looking to improve and develop young talent, to provide them with the skills needed to compete at a higher level.”
