Honeydew police officers represent Gauteng at volleyball tournament

HONEYDEW – Honeydew Police Station officers competed in the police's National Volleyball Tournament that was held from 1 to 7 September.


 Members of the Honeydew Police Station joined their Gauteng compatriots in blue at the police’s National Volleyball Tournament held from 1 to 7 September in the Western Cape.

Coach of the Gauteng provincial men’s volleyball team and spokesperson for the Honeydew police Captain Balan Muthan said, “We travelled to the Cape together with the women’s team and we knew we had tough job on our hands. The competition is strong every year and we are proud of our teams for doing a good job.”

The men’s team won all of their round-robin matches, successfully making it to the semi-finals to play against the Western Cape team.

“If we beat them, we would have ended up in the final in KwaZulu-Natal but unfortunately our men’s team lost. We are very proud that our team ended in third place at the tournament.”

The women’s team won all of their matches in the round-robin stages, progressing through the semi-final stages and will face the KwaZulu-Natal team in the upcoming final.

“The ladies did a fantastic job at the tournament and we hope that they can take home the victory.”

Also on the men’s team was Honeydew Police Station Commander Brigadier Anesh Maharaj.
