Randburg Boxing Club’s very own World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African Super Middleweight champion has done it again.
The 24-year-old Patrick ‘The Panther’ Mukala has successfully defended his title, which he won in March last year, for the second time. He secured his win against Tanzania’s Ibrahim Tamba at the 2018 Fox Sports Africa Boxing 6 Fight Night at Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre in Swaziland on 1 June.
Tamba’s record shows over 30 bouts and numerous knockouts. But Mukala’s knockout in the fourth round sealed the deal.
The Panther will now go on to another possible title defence and then he will aim for WBA international fights. His next fight is set for 20 July at Carnival City.
Trained by Randburg Boxing Club’s Ashley Fourie, Mukala said he was ready to get back into the ring after his tough loss during the Super 4 Super Middleweight fight against Ryno Liebenberg in October last year. The Congolese boxer is working towards becoming a world champion and going forward he is taking no prisoners.
According to Fourie, “He totally outboxed this guy. The whole Fox Sports went crazy for him.
“He domineered the whole fight. He stalked this guy, striking like a cobra. That is where I saw The Panther,” he said.
Mukala said he was very positive during the fight and knew he was in it for the win. “I felt it in the change room because we were very relaxed.
“I thank God for the victory. We are back on track,” he said.

Mukala also decided to give a little something back. He took some of the purse money and bought professional equipment for the amateur boxing club where he started in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
