Aurora’s equestrian girls top of the troop

SUNDOWNER – After a stunning and graceful display by the Curro Aurora equestrian team, the team placed first overall in school rankings.

The Curro Aurora equestrian team competed in the South African National Equestrian School Association’s (Sanesa) fourth and final round of qualifiers held on 2 June at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in Krugersdorp.

After a stunning and graceful display by the equestrian team, they placed first overall in school rankings with 4 985 points.

Aurora’s Chevaun Barker and her horse Blackbriar, Rae-Kyndra Ragoobeer and her horse Waterside Abby Road, and Norika Goldsmith and her horse Ceila, competed in the disciplines of dressage, technique, and showjumping.

Curro Aurora Primary School student, Megan Ras, competed on two horses, Charlie Bean and Cornerstone Midnight Moon.

Curro Aurora’s equestrian team coach Rheetha Rughobeer said, “Our team has performed exceptionally well across all four qualifiers, emerging at the top of its category for the Sanesa school rankings for 2018.

“We are super proud of our riders, who now await the announcement on qualification into the Gauteng finals competition, due to be held on 28 and 29 July for primary schools, and 4 and 5 August for high schools. We wish all our riders the very best.”

Announcements on riders who have qualified for entry into the Gauteng Regionals Competition are due to be made on 22 June.
