Aurora riders a trot ahead of the competition

SUNDOWNER – Show jumpers of Curro Aurora competed in the South African National Equestrian School Association third round of qualifiers.

Four show jumpers who attend Curro Aurora competed in the South African National Equestrian School Association (Sanesa) third round of qualifiers held on 13 May at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in Krugersdorp.

The different disciplines that the young competitors competed in included show jumping, showing, equitation, and dressage.

Facing tough competition from other schools in the Gauteng West region, Aurora’s Chevaun Barker and her horse Blackbriar placed first overall in the 80cm show jumping competition.

Judgement in the performance riding level placed Aurora’s Rae-Kyndra Ragoobeer and her horse Waterside Abbey Road in first position, and second position in the in-hand utility category.

In the dressage qualifier, fellow show jumpers Norika Goldsmith finished fifth in both the A and B level tests and Megan Ras and her horse Charlie Bean placed fourth in the performance riding level test.

The next qualifier round will take place on 2 and 3 June at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm.

After all four qualifiers, the teams will be selected according to how well the riders have done, after which, the selected Gauteng team will compete against other provinces in the Sanesa Nationals.
