Randburg Mets seal victory against Sox Baseball Club

MORET – Randburg Mets pitcher on fire with ball to lead his team to victory

Randburg Mets Baseball Club pitcher Ayanda Mthembu was on fire on 13 May when his team took on the Red Sox Baseball Club from Kempton Park.

Playing at home, Mthembu retired 11 Red Sox batters with a strikeout and hit two doubles (a double is the act of a batter striking the pitched ball and safely reaching second base without being called out by the umpire, without the benefit of a fielder’s misplay).

His efforts helped his team to a 14–2 victory and he was acknowledged as Player of the Day.

However, it was not all smooth sailing for the home team as their batters struggled to get runs on the board.

Mets coach Glen Gillman said his team played well defensively but his batters took a while to get going but after a few innings were able to put points on the board which helped them clinch the victory.
