Rand Park netball girls unbeaten at Saints festival

LYME PARK – The Rand Park High School girl's netball team enjoyed an unbeaten run at the Saints Sports Festival 2018.

The Rand Park High School girls’ netball team enjoyed an unbeaten run at the Saints Sports Festival 2018.

The final three matches on 2 April saw the Rand Park girls beating Redhill 35–10, Northcliff High School 20–15, and Cape Town visitors St Cyprian’s 27–16.

Rand Park High girls’ netball first-team coach, Kayleigh McLean said, “The Saints Festival was an incredible experience and we were honoured to be part of it…

This was not only a chance for the Rand Park netball girls to bond but also for them to practise their skills and show off their natural talent.”

Kelly Gouws takes a shot against the Kingswood girls at the Saints Sports Festival 2018.

The girls won all seven of their games.

McLean acknowledged that the other coaches and umpires often commented on the girls’ outstanding performance as well as their ability to stay humble.

“As a coach, I couldn’t have been prouder to hear this and I am looking forward to the season ahead. Thank you to St Stithians for hosting a festival to be remembered.”

Two players, Kelly Gouws and Samantha Thomas, have been selected for the British Fast5 All Stars Netball team.

They, together with Kiara Coppens, who is on the first team, have also been invited to compete in the 2018 All Stars Netball Tournament in Ireland.

The Rand Park High School girls take a well-deserved half-time break.
