There are few things in life that are better than watching an international cricket match live.
And few match-ups are better than that between South Africa and India.
So come on down to the third and final Test match at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium. The match started this morning (24 January) under clouds and cool weather, and India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat.
It appeared to be a poor decision after the quick loss of two wickets – KL Rahul (0) and Murali Vijay (8) – but once the captain walked to the crease he and Cheteshwa Pujara carried the visitors to 45/2 at lunchtime.
Both teams selected five seamers and no spinners for the match.
“I expect the Proteas to win because we have a great pace attack,” said a fan, Edwin Till. “The match will only last three days, that’s how good we are.”
Marcus Raath, on the other hand, was rooting for India. He said India would win, and Pujara was his favourite batsman because he was ‘lekker solid’.
Buyiswa Msasondo came to her first Test match with two friends. “Of course the Proteas will win,” she said, looking surprised at the question of who might win. “We want a whitewash.”
Tickets to the match can be bought at www.ticketpros.co.za or at the ground.
