Bantwana College Football Club to host its inaugural tournament

RANDPARK RIDGE – Soccer tournament to promote women's soccer.

Bantwana College Football Club will host their very first soccer tournament on 3 and 4 February at Allen Glen High School.

The club operates under the Bantwana College NPC (non- profit company) umbrella and is inviting women’s soccer teams which want to participate in the tournament to sign up.

Bantwana College NPC head Theo Buttress is excited to have the best teams competing for glory and promoting women’s soccer.

The funds generated from the tournament will assist Bantwana College Football Club to travel to Cape Town on a soccer tour in April.

“This is our inaugural tournament and this gives the women a chance to showcase their talent and skills, as well as getting fit and healthy before the start of the soccer season,” said Buttress. “This will not only help Bantwana in judging where their level is compared to other teams but it is also a way for the players to have fun.”

In the tournament, teams will be divided into two separate divisions. The first division will be made up of U19 teams, and over-19 teams will participate in the second division.

The tournament is still seeking sponsors to come on board to assist in the promotion of women’s soccer. Remax Masters has already joined the tournament as the main sponsors while high profile players from Banyana Banyana are expected to make appearances.

“The winners, runners-up and third-place finishers will be rewarded for their hard work with medals and other exciting prizes. There will also be prizes for the top goal scorer, best goalkeeper and player of the tournament.”

An awards ceremony will commence on the Sunday after the finals.
