BLAIRGOWRIE – The launch of the Old Parks Cycling Club was celebrated on 2 November with an early morning ride along the Braamfontein Spruit.

The cycling group set off about 7am with renowned cyclist and fitness trainer Robbie McIntosh.

McIntosh said, “It was our group’s first ride, and we all enjoyed it so much that we will do it on a regular basis.

“The spruit is always a nice ride, especially for beginners… We are lucky to have a good mix of people that help each other out.”

The group cycled off-road along the 5km Braamfontein Spruit trail and finished off with a well-deserved breakfast at Old Park’s Rustic Café for a well-deserved breakfast.

“You do not have to be a club member to join the ride on a Saturday morning and we encourage everyone to join us… We would like this event to become as big as parkrun.”

The club has about 40 members and is growing steadily. In the new year, the club plans to ride every Saturday morning at 7am.
