PHL set to thrill with its second weekend of fixtures

PRAEGVILLE – All systems go for the second weekend.

Teams participating in the Premier Hockey League are preparing for the second weekend of games at the Randburg Sports Complex.

Kilimanjaro Addo Elephants are looking for a better weekend this time around following a 4–0 defeat by the Pro-Grip Drakensberg Dragons and a 3–2 loss to the champions, Crossroads Maropeng Cavemen.

Cheslyn Gie, coach of the Kilimanjaro Addo Elephants said, “We always expected it to be a tough start as we received two new marquee players in critical positions for the team. It took the players a game to get used to each other and we definitely started to gel and play better as a team by the second match.”

Gie’s biggest concern was whether or not their star South African national player Jonty Robinson would return from an injury to participate in this weekends fixtures.

Women’s defending champions, Blyde River Bunters, will look to maintain their 100 per cent winning record as they prepare to face Wineland Wings and set up a repeat of last years final against TopT Madikwe Rangers.

Rangers are currently fourth on the log but have an advantage as they have a game in hand.

Entrance to the tournament is free.
